About

Chris

The Western Australian community will be given the opportunity to pay its respects to the former West Coast Eagles player Chris Mainwaring at a funeral service next week.

The service will conducted at the Christ Church Grammar School Chapel in Claremont from 11am on Monday.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

An autopsy has been conducted on Mainwaring's body and is expected to reveal whether the 41 year old had taken drugs before he died suddenly in the early hours of Monday morning.

It is unclear whether the results of the examination will be made public.

Major Crime Squad Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Mainwaring's death and have interviewed Eagles midfielder Ben Cousins and former West Coast player, Adrian Barich.

"Forever Young' just came on the radio and it will always be your song. It will be two years soon but we will allways remember you as someone who took the bull by the horns and had an awesome smile.

My Hero

Amy Feb 10, 2009

Chris Mainwaring was my favourite Eagles player growing up.
He was my hero and my inspiration. I miss Mainy everyday.
His funeral was touching and very upsetting. The bit i remember the most was when Mainy's son Zac started crying.
I went to the Chris MAinwaring tribute match last year and it was great to see how many people appreciated chris.
We all miss you Mainy!!

A brief meeting but everlasting moment

Rachelle Apr 02, 2008

It always amazes me how people post wonderful thoughts immediately after the event of a loss but nothing further! I met Chris in Vancouver around 1995 or 96 he was playing football there. We had a very brief but everlasting connection in my spirit...Strangely enough after all these years I have had dreams about Chris in the last two weeks. I did not know he has passed on. I feel very sad to know such an amazing person has left under such a terrible experience. We were so intrigued by each other from Canada to Perth he wanted me to come and visit so many times...but I was afraid to be so far from my friends and family. I will cherish his twinkling blue eyes and light heart and great smile!
I am grateful for our short but everlasting experience.
