Memories

A Special Knitting Friend

June Fiford Aug 19, 2010

It is with great sadness that I have just learnt of the passing of such a special person. Jennifer will be much missed.
I knew Jennifer for only seven years meeting her at a knitting class at a TAFTA Forum in Mittagong and recognising then her skill with needles and words a friendship was formed together with Karen White also a class participant.
We met regularly at first mostly spending time knitting and sharing knowledge of stitches and new threads and these occasions then evolved into visits to the city for lunch and some time in the wool shop, sharing ideas and laughter over the possibilities with threads and needles. I cherish many very happy memories of times together, special lunches in special places that Jennifer always seemed to know well. I will miss conversations by phone with her. I will miss her wit, charm and grace.
I feel priveliged to have known Jennifer as a friend and also to have learned that once she was a colleague with my late brother at Fisher.
My sincere sympathy to all her family whom I know she cherished and to all the other friends she so valued.

More than an "in-law"

Mary Wells Aug 04, 2010

Though it was somewhat defined by distance,we have greatly valued our friendship with Jennifer, which grew gently after Dianna & Miles' wedding. An occasional phone call or letter and once a year, a special outing with her, around Sydney - an art exhibition, a history tour, lunch, all perfectly arranged by Jennifer, but mostly, some time together & a quiet chat
She was thoughtful, unassuming, perceptive, encouraging, fun & we greatly enjoyed her keen wit, always expressed ever so gently. We have enjoyed her & loved her & will miss her greatly.
