I still remember being on Reg,s Country Homested TV show with Ema Hanna and Colin, a great time was had by all and will remain one of the highlights of my life ,,All the best old mate ,and show those angels how to sing country,,Buddy Weston....
I WAS SADDENED TO HEAR THAT REG HAD PASSED ON. WHEN I WAS YOUNG MY FAMILY WOULD JUST FLOCK AROUND THE OLD BLACK AND WHITE TELEVISION TO WATCH THE REG LINDSAY SHOW--NEVER MISSED IT MATE!! I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET AN AUTOGRAPH FROM YOU AT THE TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL--IT WAS A HIGHLIGHT OF MY VISIT THERE.R.I.P AND GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY
I was a city boy and only knew Reg Lindsay for his magical song Armstrong. It was just one song, but one that has always been with me. A few weeks after I heard of his death the memory of Armstrong motivated me to look Reg up on the internet. I had no idea he was so big in the bush, or that his material was still available. I bought a copy of No Dress Rehearsal and loved it. I was bit late coming Reg, but thanks for this magnificent introduction to Country Music.
This is my belated tribute to a man who was a true legend of country music... and one I was always proud to call a mate.
It wasn't long after I met Reg that we bumped into each other at a shopping centre in Tamworth, where he asked me whether I had ever been invited to place my handprints in the Hands of Fame Park. I told him "no", adding that I didn't think I had done enough to earn that kind of honour. He disagreed and told me he would do something about it... and sure enough, one year later, I was tipped on my side (wheelchair and all) where I became the first to add my 'fistprint' (I couldn't flatten my hand) into the Hands of Fame, where it can still be seen to this day.
You were a man of your word, Reg... and there's not too many of us around!
I can also recall the evening when you and Ros shared a meal with my dear wife Diane (you called her "the cook") and I at our home in Geelong. Diane was most embarassed when, right in the middle of our dinner, our pet cat jumped up onto the table... but we all had a great laugh about it at the time.
Yes, there were many happy memories, Reg... and you were a part of them
My sincere condolences to you Ros (sorry I no longer have your current address, so couldn't send a card) and the rest of the family. You have lost a great man and I have lost a good - and true - mate of country music.
I first met reg when i was nursing . i had never herd of him before when i asked my nana who he was she got out all of his records and was playing them to me .when i went back to work and told reg he had the biggest grin on his face . you were such a kind and wonderful man may you rest in peace. to your family my prayers are with you.
