About Stephanie Evans

Teen Lost

Senior Sergeant Peter Jenkins, of the Metropolitan crash investigation unit, said a learner driver was at the wheel when the car careered out of control and hit a telegraph pole before coming to rest against a tree.

A 16-year-old female rear passenger, who took the brunt of the impact, died on the way to hospital. Police have now named her as Stephanie Evans, 16, from Cherrybrook.

She was a student at Pacific Hills Christian School. Students from the school visited the crash scene today, in tears, to place on a tree a badge shaped as a heart with the words "I Love You"  to pay tribute to their lost friend.

The 16-year-old driver and her 14-year-old sister, who was in the front passenger seat, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Westmead Hospital where they were both in a stable condition this afternoon.  They were named by police late this afternoon as Mel Howe, 16, the car's' driver, and sister Rachel,  both of Annangrove.
